Metroid Fusion (hard) – 27-28 – Warning! No entry without unauthorized Wave Beam!
Wave Beam Missile Tank x1 (86) Total: 65% Well, going into a restricted area to attract a rogue security robot is an effective tactic, even if it is not entirely intentional… Anyway, BOX is the main focus of this video… pretty much the only focus, actually, considering that the only expansion I collect is completely obvious. My strategy? Pay attention to the markings on the ceiling… If you’re in one specific location halfway between two tiles, your diagonal missiles will hit BOX when it’s standing in the center of the room. Also, when it fires its own missiles, counter by rapid-firing your beam horizontally (not diagonally– this is important). By the way, the Wave Beam Core-X is easier than the Plasma Beam Core-X in my opinion– you have plenty of space to run back and forth here. Random note: The fact that this boss does not have an eye door… is nice because eye door unpredictability is annoying, but is annoying because you don’t get a red X to refill your health before the battle… if you’re not at full health, I suggest farming yellow X off the enemies outside the save point.

Missile Tank x1 (44) Energy Tank x1 (399) Missile Tank x1 (46) Security Level 2 Missile Tank x1 (48) Super Missiles Missile Tank x1 (50) Energy Tank x1 (449) Total: 27% First of all, some Speed Booster tricks for some semi-early expansions (I doubt most players obtain them this early)… (Note that opening the left door at the start actually makes a difference in whether you successfully reach the hidden passage or not.) Then Security Level 2, Super Missile data room, BOX fight, and exit. (If you’re unfamiliar with Fusion: Super Missiles upgrade your normal missiles, making them do three times more damage.) BOX (no idea if that stands for anything) the security robot can be pretty difficult at first, but it’s easy enough once you figure out the pattern (and it doesn’t have much HP, either). Overall, Sector 3 went much better than Sector 4 (interesting how you don’t travel through the sectors in order), actually. So, regarding the video title, why is it that the X can’t enter Sector 3 until you open security level 2, but they can enter Sector 4 fine with only security level 1 (and sectors 1 and 2 with only security level 0)? I think the developers liked the idea of the X not invading a sector until you unlock security, and decided to implement it anyway despite it not making sense. That seems fairly likely.
